How we check facts
Where our figures come from, how often we re-check them, and how we record changes.
- Primary sources only. Every figure links to the bank’s, airline’s or hotel’s own document: the MITC, key fact statement, terms and conditions, an official FAQ or a notice. We don’t copy figures from other websites, and we leave a figure out rather than guess.
- Dated. Each figure shows the date we last checked it. Figures not re-checked within 90 days are queued for review.
- Start dates. “In effect from” is the date the source says a figure started. Where the source doesn’t say, it is the date of the document, or the date we first confirmed it, so the real start may be earlier.
- History kept. When something changes we keep the earlier value, its dates and its source, so you can see what changed and when.
- Gaps are honest. If a bank doesn’t publish a figure in a document we can check, the page says so or leaves it out.
